A portable inflator is the accessory most likely to earn its price in an emergency, and the specs that matter are not the ones on the front of the box.
Maximum PSI is quoted at 150 or higher on nearly everything. Car tyres run at 30 to 40. The number is meaningless for the job. What matters is how long the unit runs before it overheats and cuts out, and how fast it moves air at pressures you actually use.
Duty cycle and inflation time
Most compact inflators shut down after 8 to 15 minutes to protect the motor. Taking one tyre from flat to 35 PSI takes roughly 5 to 8 minutes on a cordless unit. That means a genuinely flat tyre is at the edge of what these can do in a single run, and four tyres from low to correct is two or three cooling breaks.
If the listing quotes an inflation time, check what tyre size it used. The figure is usually from a 195/65 R15, which is smaller than most SUV and truck tyres.
Cordless or 12V
Cordless units are more useful because a flat tyre is often in an awkward spot. The trade is battery. Assume one tyre from flat per charge on a small unit, and check whether the battery is replaceable or sealed. Sealed means the whole thing is disposable when the cell degrades in a few years.
12V units running off the accessory socket never run out, but you must have the engine running, and the cable has to reach the far tyre.
Pressure sensor accuracy
Cheap digital gauges drift. Cross check against a proper pencil gauge once when you get the unit. Being 4 PSI out matters for fuel economy and wear, and it is the kind of error you never notice.
Auto shutoff at a set pressure is worth having. Without it you stand there watching a gauge in the rain.
Filters and blades
Cabin filters are the single cheapest thing you can change yourself, usually behind the glovebox, usually two clips. If the car smells musty when the fan comes on, that is the filter. Engine air filters are similar and slightly more hidden.
Wiper blades are sold by length per side and the two sides are almost never the same. Check both before ordering.
