A jack’s rating is the load it lifts, not the load it holds — that is what stands are for, and nothing here should ever be worked under without them. For racks, the constraint is almost never the rack: it is what your car’s roof, hatch or hitch is rated to carry, and that number lives in the owner’s manual, not in the rack listing.
